Comment:

First step is coat all the casting surfaces and sealant/plaster with white gesso (used by artists to prep canvas). It doesn't take much - I used a quart for the whole layout and all the castings. A good source for art type supplies (gesso, tempura, sculptamold, paints) is Mister Art.com.
