Comment:

I used 1" insulation foam on the flat areas for subroadbed. Wouldn't use it again - too flat, and even "flat areas" in real life are not really perfectly flat. Even with a Crafter's hot knife, hot wire foam cutter and rasps, etc., making depressions and basic scenery shapes was a pain, very messy, and with so-so results. (NTS - use open cookie cutter style subroadbed next time - or maybe try using the foam board cookie cutter style only under yards or as subroadbed.)
